10:16 am - VERY IMPORTANT--new journal!
So, when I started this journal, the name meant that I sometimes went as Nate. Now it's come to be more like the start of a sentence, such as "Sometimes Nate sleeps." or "Sometimes Nate goes swimming." However, I think it's time for something new.
Therefore, I won't be updating this journal anymore. It's served me well, but I'm moving to
dietcokeboy .

01:06 pm - Anti-war, pro-dance and rock music Benefit on Sunday, July 27th
So I was going to post all the information for this benefit next Sunday the 27th that Susan from my office's band is in, but there's hardly anyone from Chicago on my friends list now...however, lakenaiad and nineinchlovely, you may be interested...I'd love to meet you there, let me know. It's a benefit for Pink Bloque: Dancing In Dissent, which is a Chicago-based radical feminist dance troupe dedicated to challenging the white supremacist capitalist patriachal empire through tactical cuteness and radical booty shaking (I'm quoting here...I need my "bootylicious" t-shirt!). It's a benefit for their upcoming East Coast tour where they will partner with grassroots activists to spread the message that the US occupation abroad and respression at home is unjustified. I want to go to support Susan's band, Cash Machine!. The benefit is called Rock Lotto and there will be 11 bands there playing new material. It's at 9:30 at the Empty Bottle at 1035 N. Western Ave., $8 in advance, $10 at the door. I think it would be a lot of fun...there will be lots of cool people there, including awesome queers. You should invite Liz and everybody. Do you think the CTA guys would be interested?
Anyway, everyone should come!

Subject: Health Care Needs of the Transgender Community
Referred to: Reference Committee D
Whereas, Transgender is an umbrella term used to describe the full range of
individuals who do not necessarily conform to society's standards of gender
and sex, including individuals who have undergone sexual reassignment
surgery, individuals who are using hormone therapy, and those who simply
identify with a gender other than their birth gender; and
Whereas, According to the Transgender Community Health Project, San
Francisco Department of Public Health, February 1999, the members of the
transgender community experience a disproportionately high rate of
discrimination, especially prominent in the public, workplace, and health
care settings; and
Whereas, Transgender patients often have unique physical and psychological
health care needs and often delay seeking treatment for a variety of
medical conditions due to fear of discrimination by their local practicing
physicians; and
Whereas, The American Medical Association has extensive policy relating to
discrimination (H-65.983, H-65.987, H-65.989, H-65.990, H-65.992,
H-160.991) that does not include the transgender community; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That Policy H-65.990, Civil Rights Restoration, be amended by
insertion to read as follows:
The AMA reaffirms its long-standing policy that there is no basis for the
denial to any human being of equal rights, privileges, and responsibilities
commensurate with his or her individual capabilities and ethical character
because of an individual's sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender
identity, or transgender status, race, religion, disability, ethnic origin,
national origin, or age.
Fiscal Note: No Significant Fiscal Impact
HOD ACTION: Resolution 410 adopted as amended

The trouble with my migraine medicine when I have a bad migraine is that one pill doesn't do anything, and when I take a second pill I'm basically zonked out for the entire day. Which is how I went today. Yuck.
